Today was a cool, rainy day. One of my favorite kinds of day - strange, no? I'm glad it's getting cooler because that means fall is on the way! I was thinking about this the other day, and decided fall is hands-down my favorite season. Spring is good, but I just love everything about fall - the crisp air, the colors, the smell of leaves off the trees or being burned, I love warming up with a mug of hot cider or going to the apple orchard. I love that fall also goes by "autumn". Autumn just sounds cool. Yeah for autumn.
So anyway, today I went down to Detroit's Eastern Market. Sad to say it was my first time getting down there this year. This place rocks. I bought apples, cherries, peaches, new potatoes, and zucchini. I never, ever buy zucchini in the store. For some reason I just felt like trying it.
In addition to all the farmers plying their goods, there is a place called Rocky's Peanut Shop. They sell all sorts of great stuff. I did not buy any nuts there, but did get some Michigan Cherry Coffee (whole bean, of course!) and some fancy flavored hot chocolate.
There is also an antique store by the market that I peeked into. I saw beautiful couch and chair set from a long time ago (I think the tag said the early 1900's or something like that). It was in great shape, with the legs and arms richly carved wood. It was bargain-priced at $1,700. Needless to say, I had to pass!
The sad event for the day: roommie Melissa moved out. She and another friend found an amazing house to rent in Highland Park for just about pennies each month. I'll definitely miss having her (and her furniture!) around. More her than the furniture. Last night she and I agreed that Jack Bauer could kick Chuck Norris' butt. (Admittedly, the Chuck Norris facts website is very funny, but I think we all know that truth - that Jack Bauer is way cooler and better looking than Chuck Norris.)

I agree Amanda, everything is better in the fall.
Sometime when Dad and I come I would love to check out the Eastern Market, sounds like a lot of great stuff.
Melissa texted me a joke the other day: if Jack Bauer were gay his name would be Chuck Norris.
