Book to Avoid

The girl's book club decided to dig into the old classic, "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger as our latest reading choice. Although we haven't had a chance to discuss it yet, my advice to those out there considering reading it: Don't. The "story" (if you could even call it that) is pointless, the language in the book is bad, and overall it's just depressing.

I would agree - there is A LOT to discuss about it. Salinger did some interesting things with it stylistically (is that a word?)...but over all - it isn't a fun book. I will be taking my copy to the book swap as this will be the last time that I read it.
