Creepy commercial

So, we're watching the Tiger's game tonight and a commercial comes on from the Democratic party being all down on DeVos. The commercial was so creepy...it was a close-up shot of DeVos's head, and they slowly morphed it into a picture of President Bush's head, and then morphed back to DeVos. I don't really understand the message they were trying to convey. Perhaps that Democrats are good at digital imagery stuff?

Political commercials are becoming odder and creepier.

And it's really bugging me that Democrats are using comparisons to Bush as a scare tactic. On any level, from local to national. I just don't, well, care.

i hate politics too... i think the commercial is super scarey... i think i was probably watching it with you and being freaked out. i also think it means democrats are probably mac users, because that was some pretty fancy digital photography.

I laughed at the commercial out of sheer disbelief. I mean who thinks of these things? A bunch of men sitting around a table with junk food at 3 in the morning thinking "we have to think of something good, REALLY good..." and this is what they come up with...hilarious. What is even funnier is to think of all the money that was spent to produce that commercial. Someone actually hired a guy to morph the two images together to make a commercial. Someone ACTUALLY TOOK THE ETNTIRE PROCESS SERIOUSLY. Come on girls…ya gotta laugh.

You all are insane... Maybe even certifiable. It SHOULD scare you that being associated with George Bush is considered a bad thing. The problem, though, is that it doesn't scare you enough to wake up. George Bush, Dick DeVos and their ilk are greedy, manipulative, and would betray your interests in a second for a buck. They pretend to be good, God-fearing citizens (in GW's case, some would even argue that he was divinely appointed), and they put on a good show, they really do. But I challenge you to name anything that they have done for the poor that will have significant and lasting value. Sure, people like DeVos give away money and build research centers and entertainment venues, but the truth of the matter is that philanthropy PAYS, especially for those who are politically motivated. It's all about money with Dick DeVos. And it's all about blind power with George Bush. Money and power go hand in hand. It didn't take a rocket scientist to come with the idea for the commercial you reference -- it's simple logic.

There are 2000 verses in the Bible referencing the poor, but you'd never know it listening to supposed Jesus-loving conservatives. I'm surprised that a Christian social worker, who is living in, working in, and being confronted by poverty daily, wouldn't have more interest in politics. Politics make the rules by which society is expected to live -- the rules by which you and I are expected to live. And if you don't bother to care about the issues facing this society, shame on you.

But I also have to thank you, because all your ignorance does is leave the decision making up to people like me. And I like making the rules.

Enid, I don't know you, but I do understand partly what you're getting at because I have similar beliefs on social justice and politics, and I am not a fan of the Bush administration. But, we each have the right to make up our own minds, and God designed us as unique and to think differently. I think it's more helpful to share why we feel inclined to vote a certain way versus bashing someone for not thinking the same way we do.

I think politics can be overwhelming, and it can be easy to go with the big issues, like anti-abortion and family values, and over look some of the details. Politicians want it that way. And it can be difficult to get unbiased information on candidates besides the brief write-ups in local newspapers just prior to an election. It's frustrating!

I also don't think making fun of obnoxious campaign commercials means someone doesn't care about social justice and political decisions that affect them. Those commercials are a waste of money; they're flashy and degrading and they don't help me one bit with my decisions.
