When A Roommate Gets Married

The past couple of months have been a flurry of activity around my place, as my (now former) roommate Sarah got married. Charles and Sarah's wedding was one of the most beautiful, gospel-centered weddings I've ever been to. It was so perfect for them, and it really couldn't have gone any better. While there were some moments of craziness in these past few months, they were all filled with joyful excitement and I loved them all!

Gotta get those invitations out!

The invitation stuffing party was a lot of fun, helped in part by the Jet's BBQ chicken pizza Sarah bought for us.

A couple of friends and I threw a bridal shower for Sarah. It was a great chance to get to meet some of the ladies who have been a big part of Sarah's life. It was also a great chance for me to try my hand at making cake-pops, which turned out quite well:

A friend of ours took this picture, and I love it. It captures the joy we were all feeling for Sarah during her shower. (Photo credit: Lauren Angel)

You need programs to know who's who during the ceremony. We had another fun night putting these together. There was some very exact measurements involved...at least at first. After program #148 we may have gotten a little less precise.

A couple days prior to the wedding, Sarah's sisters threw her an "intimate" shower. For some reason she didn't want to open lingerie at the other shower in front of her mom and future mother-in-law for some reason. Go figure. (Photo credit: Lauren Angel)

The night before the wedding a small group of us when to Coach Insignia for drinks and dessert. This is starting to become a tradition. Sadly, no one picked up the tab for us this time. Which is fine, as we still had a great time!

Not that she needed any more help being any more beautiful, but here's the slightly sleepless bride the morning of her wedding getting her makeup done by the always lovely and talented Lauren Angel.

I was honored to have been asked to read scripture during the ceremony. I really wanted to do a a dramatic reading, and act out Ephesians 5:22 - 33, but she wouldn't let me.

Charles and Sarah took communion during the ceremony, which was incredibly beautiful. One of Sarah's girls did a great job of overcoming shyness and stage fright and sang during communion. She did a great job!

Sarah and some of her former roommates at the reception. The reception was so fun! It was a great time to not only celebrate the new couple, but to also catch up with some dear friends.

In the days leading up to the wedding, and on the day itself, it was great to get to know better some of Sarah's other friends and her family. I always knew Sarah was awesome, but it turns out the rest of the Hillikers are pretty great too.

It was such a joy and a privilege to be a part of this journey with Charles and Sarah. And I'm glad they live close by so Sarah can still come over regularly to eat Jet's BBQ Chicken Pizza, drink margaritas, and watch Downton Abbey with me. I guess Charles can come too now, if he must.
