Due to some turn-over in the resident lawn mowers that live/used to live in the same house as me, over the past couple of weeks our lawn had gone un-mowed, and therefore was looking pretty bad. My poor landlord had to put up with me asking multiple times about when the lawn was going to be mowed. (You may ask why I didn't just do it myself? The answer is partly because I've not mowed a lawn in at least 10 years, and was a little apprehensive about it. That's kinda silly, I know. The other reason being that the lawn mower is kept in a downstairs storage area, and I was unsure about my ability to haul it the flight of steps. I'm sure I could have done it, so maybe that was kind of a lame excuse too.)
Anyway...arrangements were made for a neighborhood kid came by and mowed the lawn. I was so inspired by the idea of having a nice, neat lawn again that I thought about planting flowers. My roommate planted flowers last spring by the walkway up to our house, and they looked great. But here it was, mid-way through August, and I had to wonder whether it was too late in the season to plant annuals.
So I texted LB to get her thoughts. I love the fact that she didn't just text me back, but called me within about a millisecond of receiving my text. Her wise advice was that it wasn't too late, because we still have some time before frost starts to set in. Armed with that knowledge, I got myself to Home Depot last night after work and bought some begonias. A few hours and very dirty hands later, I felt great, and our walkway looks great too:
Thanks Lisa!
