New York Adventures

Last week Thursday I was in New York City for the day for work. It was kind of crazy to be able to say I was just spending the day in New York - and it was kind of exhausting too! Our flight left Detroit at 6:15 AM, and didn't leave New York until close to 9:00 PM due to a delay because of storms in Detroit. Because of the storms, I was able to see a pretty awesome lightening show from the plane window. Fortunately it was waaaaay off in the distance, so it wasn't scary. It was very cool to see the night sky light up.

As for New York, I definitely wouldn't want to live there. Not only is the cost of housing astronomical (a studio apartment about the size of my bedroom goes for over $1000 a month!) but it's way too crowded. I did get to experience a few fun New York things, including:
  • Taking the subway
  • Taking a taxi (I almost got sick on our cab ride to the airport - the driver was crazy!)
  • Going to Battery Park and seeing the Statue of Liberty in the distance
  • Walking past the Empire State building
  • Riding past Ground Zero
  • Walking through Times Square
  • Buying a hot dog from a vendor
  • Using a public bathroom (it was gross)
I'd have loved to have gone to Central Park, but there wasn't time. Maybe next time, if there is a next time!
