"Fun" in the Pacific Northwest

I just returned back to Detroit from a work-related trip to Portland, Oregon. This was my first time to the Pacific Northwest, and I really want to go back again, only sometime when the weather is nicer and I can get out and enjoy the sights and get to the ocean. As it was, I was in downtown Portland (which is really quite nice, although it was only 40 degrees and rainy the whole time). Some of the other people at the conference who were from Oregon/Washington state described a lot of the great sights that can be seen in the Cumberland River Gorge, Mt. Hood, etc... Too bad this trip did not allow for that. I did get an amazing view of Seattle, Washington from the air though, as we flew from Portland to Seattle. The flight from Seattle to Detroit was killer - a 4 hour red-eye, I was crammed in the middle seat, my legs were all cramped up, and it was turbulent throughout. I had hoped to sleep most of the way home, but alas landed in Detroit at 5:30 AM with little more than a quick doze on the plane. Today's being spent resting up, but not too much that it wouldn't allow me to sleep tonight.

A big plus about this conference - staying at the Marriott. The king-size bed, down comforter, and a million down pillows made for perfect night sleeps. And the free Bath and Body Works shampoo/conditioner/lotion in the hotel room. Also, the never-ending supply of Starbucks coffee was a plus.
