A Fun Day Off

Today being Memorial Day, I had the day off work. Instead of staying at home and doing work (which I could have easily done), I was able to enjoy a lovely day with good company out at Greenfield Village, a popular attraction that I had never been too before. All weekend long there were Civil War reenactments taking place at the park - which was even more interesting to me because I'm reading "Gone With the Wind", which of course is about the Civil War. We got to see the Union and Confederate armies "fight" each other, using different military tactics. It was neat to see the reenactments take place, although I was a little disturbed that they killed one of the Union drummer boys. I guess that really did happen though. There were two young boys sitting next to us, and one of them asked the other which side California was on. That made me smile.

For the reenactments we saw, the Confederates won one battle, the Union won two. Damn Yankees!
