More Evidence of Depravity

In my line of work, the city of San Francisco is often hailed as this great city for its innovative housing projects and social service programs that successfully move people off the streets and into decent housing. It is frequently related that all of this great work is able to be done because of the commitment and leadership of the mayor, Gavin Newsom. I've been thinking about this in light of the recent news story that Mayor Newsom admitted to having an affair with the wife of one of his staff. So, on the one hand we have a man who is using his position of power and leadership to help some of the poorest of the poor in that city; but, on the other hand, this same man then sleeps with another man's wife. I'm not really sure where my thoughts with this are going. Sinful people will commit acts of sin...so I really shouldn't be surprised that this man - despite of all the "good" he's done - is still a sinner in need of Christ.

yes, sinful people commit acts of sin... i'm reading Changes that Heal right now (cloud and townsend) and they talk about the issue of good/bad split. that it's easy to sort of throw the baby out with the bathwater... that you find out something negative about someone and it sort of taints everything about them (like i often do with historical figures)... but life is more complex than that, as we know. hmm... i don't really have a point here either... just interesting to think about.
