15 Years - Really?

It'll be 15 years this spring since I graduated high school, which is a bit hard to believe. Thanks to the wonders of Facebook, many people in my graduating class are being "found", and a couple of our class officers are doing a great job with putting together plans for a reunion later this fall.

All of this has led to some thoughts:
I can't remember who some of the people I supposedly I graduated with are. This is a bit sad, considering my gradauting class was only a little over 100 people. There's not too many, but a few people who I'm like "who is that"? The sad part is, I'm sure there are other people who are like "who's Amanda Sternberg?"

The vast majority of people I do remember, and, if they haven't set their FB privacy setting too high, I've been perusing through their photos, seeing where they live, where they work, etc. It's a bit strange to have the thought "so-and-so's son/daughter looks just like his/her father/mother"...especially when "so-and-so" him/herself looks quite different than they did when they were seniors in high school. I'm sure I look quite different too, to others who haven't seen me in 15 years.

For more nostalgia, I pulled out my yearbook from my senior year. Even more fun trips down memory lane:
  • The first thought is "what on earth did we wear back then"? Seriously...baggy, over-sized clothes and over-styled hair. Apparently we (I) thought that looked good. I guess it did back then, considering we all dressed that way.
  • A second thought- why is it again that I never got into the National Honor Society? I remember it being a bit of a let-down 15 years ago...fortunately it doesn't seem to have had too negative an impact on my ability to finish school and get a job.
  • I didn't quite make it into the top 10 GPA earners...but I did tie someone for the number 11 with my 3.86.
  • A not-fun detour...remembering my friend Ryan, who isn't here to celebrate 15 years.
Man, things change a lot in 15 years. I know I have, and I'm sure all my former classmates could say the same.

And, even though Hamilton can be a bit hokey at times...I'm still glad I grew up there.
