New Year, Same Hope

Last week I was ringing in the New Year with some of my closest friends, and as we were talking about the year to come, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of hope for 2012. I can’t entirely put my finger on it, but I just feel hopeful about what lies ahead. It’s not that I expect 2012 to be all rainbows and roses, as I’m pretty sure there will be clouds and thorns along the way as well.

I was further reflecting on this theme of “hope” this morning, and was lead to this passage in Hebrews:
So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. – Hebrews 6:17-20
Heirs of the promise.
Unchangeable character of God.
Sure and steadfast anchor.
The hope set before us in Christ's redeeming blood.

Bring on 2012.

Wow,what insight into those verses.Never doubt them because we know who the author is. My "favorite" verse on hope is Romans 15:13.And how can we not be people of hope, because for us the best is yet to come.Enjoy the year, one day at a time.--Dad
