2011 Bookshelf: Never Let Me Go

I picked up this book because I read a review about it which made it sound really good. It's also recently been made into a movie that I kind of want to see, but thought I should read the book first.

This book (by Kazuo Ishiguro) gets an "okay" from me. It's told from the first-person perspective of one of the main characters, mostly in flashback as she reflects back on her life at - what we think is - a private boarding school for privileged children in England. Come to find out, over the course of the story, that the children being raised at this school are clones, and the only reason they exist is so that when they are grown they can donate their vital organs to others. And they keep donating their organs - one by one - until they "complete" (i.e, die).

It was a okay story...not as great as I thought it would be.

I got this book after hearing an NPR review... didn't read it. Then I heard an NPR review on the movie and was again intrigued. Finally watched the movie and was pretty disappointed. But both reviews sounded so interesting. Bummer.
