I did something for the first, and hopefully last, time today. I had to help drown a dying groundhog. Trust me, it was the absolutely most humane thing to do for the poor animal, and I did not enjoy doing it.
I was reminded of the Little House on the Prairie episode where Mary and Laura watch a man dump a sack full of puppies into a river because he didn't want them...but the Ingalls girls dive in to save them!
There was no saving of this groundhog, however. His time on this earth needed to be up, and we helped to speed up his journey and put him out of his suffering.
