Bought my 2013 Metroparks pass. I hadn't bought on last summer, which made me sad. This summer will be different!
Saw some trillium on my bike ride! I haven't seen trillium for years - not since I was a kid and we went camping at Hoffmaster State Park. Don't pick it! It's illegal to do so in Michigan. I was actually super proud of myself that I recognized it.
Took a rest on a bench. Sat in the sun for a good half hour. Just sitting , praying, and listening to nature.
Saw some weird giant duck-bird thing. This is not a great picture. (a wildlife photographer I am not!) It was easily twice the size of a typical duck. I did some googling, and I think its actually this:
Common gallinule. Never heard of it before.
It was a great afternoon. I'm so glad the warmer weather has arrived!
