2011 Bookshelf: Unbroken

I just finished reading Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, by Laura Hillenbrand.

This book is amazing. In a nutshell: An Olympic runner gets drafted into the Air Force at the beginning of WWII. His plane is shot down over the Pacific, he survives 47 days on a raft in shark-infested waters, only to be captured by the Japanese and imprisoned for several years. What he goes through as a POW is unthinkable. After the war, he comes home and is pretty much a mess. An encounter will Bill Graham, and Jesus, changes that.

I went through many, many tissues by the time I got to the end of this book. You must read it.
