Vacation Day 1

I have to be in Denver next week for work, and decided to come out to Colorado a few days early to spend some time in Colorado Springs. I've never been here before, and have always wanted to visit. It was a little strange thinking about planning and taking a vacation by myself, but I'm finding that I'm really enjoying it.

So today was only a partial day for fun and adventure, and the only thing I did (apart from drive to Denver to Colorado Springs - which was a very pretty drive) was visit the Ghost Town Wild West Museum.

It was pretty much as hokey as it sounds.

It had a lot of displays of old-timey items from olden days, with homes and store shops set up to re-create what life was like back then.

I like this thing, if not just for the name. Apparently people would fill these with hot water and take them to bed to keep them warm at night.

I also thought this was really cool. Not so much the "pianola" part, but the piano itself. It was a beautiful up-right piano with stained glass set into it. It was gorgeous!

A pianola, which I learned today, was the black cabinet-like thing was pushed against the piano, and when the foot pedals were used, had automatic fingers that played the keyboard. I don't know...sounds like it could be just a simple to play the piano itself.

More fun tomorrow!
