Much of my week this week was spent dealing with various aspects of a large pot of federal stimulus funds received in Detroit. While there are great intentions and great hopes for this money, the truth is I'm sick and tired of it - and the program still has about 3 years to go! There is an obscene amount of ambiguity, paperwork, requirements, paperwork, and run-around with this program that it is actually in some ways hampering our ability to really help the people who need the help.
While I'm all for accountability and transparency, there needs to be a balance between that and getting to people the assistance they need - which is the whole intent of the program.
Once again, our tax dollars hard at work.
