For the past year and a half, I've been spending my Monday nights at a little church here in Detroit helping out with their tutoring program. Tonight made me realize how tough kindergarten and early-childhood teachers have it. After an hour and a half with two kindergartners, I'm ready to be done and go home - I don't know how folks like Miss 'Lissa can handle 20 of those lil' buggers all day, day in and day out. Tonight was rhyming. Seriously - how hard is it to circle the two words that sound the same? I'll read the words...all you have to do is listen. Clearly, this is harder than it seems. And don't even get me started on long and short vowels...
Props to you Melissa, props to you.
In addition to fun in vowel-land, here's another adventure: There's a middle-age man there (a very nice man) who has told me, and those around me - more than once - that I look just like a girl he dated in college and whom he almost married. But then he didn't marry her - instead he married the woman who is now his wife. But I look just like that other woman. Umm, okay...I'm not sure if I should be flattered or not. And then tonight he told me my eyes were sparkly. Now we're getting a smidgen too close to being a tad creepy.

I love teaching kindergarten and miss it a lot! I guess God gives us all the gifts we need for our work. I know spend a lot of time "teaching" my two year old. It helps!:)
