"God rest ye merry gentlemen ,
Let nothing you dismay,
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas day,
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray;
Oh tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy."
Let nothing you dismay,
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas day,
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray;
Oh tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy."
I was reflecting on this old English carol tonight. There's a lot going on in life to be dismayed about. The last part of 2008 was very difficult, for a number of reasons, for both my family and several of my friends. Looking ahead, we have hope that 2009 will bring better things, even if not right away. As this song reflects, isn't the pain and difficulty we're experiencing Satan's power? But, as we see in the book of Job, we can have confidence that God has Satan on a leash and will ultimately not prevail.
Comfort and Joy.
Comfort and Joy.
