I had a sweet little four-legged, unexpected guest in my apartment tonight. The door to my apartment opens into a foyer, with the door to the foyer opening to the front porch. After arriving home from work I walk into the foyer - leaving the door to my apartment open - and onto the front porch to get the mail. While I'm standing there a cat comes rambling up the steps and onto my porch. I'm expecting her* to run away as soon as she sees me, but instead she walks right into the foyer, and then into my apartment with no hesitation! So I follow her into my apartment and have to call out "here kitty, kitty" to find her. She was super sweet and friendly and purring. I tried to shoo her out of the front door, and she just kind of looks at me and then turns around and runs back into my apartment. Alas...I would have loved to have kept her. She didn't have any collar, and wasn't declawed, but she seemed well taken care of - she was too friendly to not have been a pet. I ended up putting her back outside, because I knew the more I kept her inside and spent time petting her the more I'd want to keep her, which I couldn't do. Now I feel really bad, like I should have done something different - like asked the neighbors if they knew whose she was or something. It's really cold out tonight...I hope she's okay. I hope she does have a home and wasn't just dumped by someone who didn't want her anymore.
*I'm assuming this cat was a she...it was either that or a former he.

we've had *some* guests this fall too...i don't know their total leg count but i did de-leg one in the night once...with a mixing bowl...gross.
Aren't you supposed to be helping the homeless in Detroit? Not just turning them back to the street???
Sounds to me like it could have turned into another Gilbert. And then I would have heard Mom can you keep my cat for me?(-: I like to think it had a home and was just out for a visit. Mom
