- Cane River by Lalita Tademy: Good.
- Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden: Good. Great character development.
- Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen: Very Good. It's Jane Austen, is there really any surprise?
- The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoefer: Okay, so I didn't get too far in this one. Perhaps 2007 is the year for Bonhoefer?
- Little Women by Lousia May Alcott: Excellent. I think this is my new favorite book.
- A Painted House by John Grisham: Disappointing. Not really any plot, and no lawyers.
- Ruthless Trust by Brennan Manning: Okay. I've read better.
- Flood Tide by Clive Cussler: Guys would probably like it. I found the story to be exciting, but very far-fetched.
- The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini: Excellent. When's the last time you read a book set in Afghanistan?
- The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown: Not worth the hype.
- Mansfield Park by Jane Austen: Again, very good. Distrbuing relationships among cousins though, which was evidentially more acceptable in England back then.
- Wicked by Gregory Maguire: Another disappointing read. The story showed real promise in the beginning, but then sort of sputtered out toward the end.
- Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem: Not the kind of book you read cover-to-cover. I'll keep plugging away at parts of it throughout 2007 (or the rest of my life probably!)
- The Devil Wears Prada by Laura Weisberger: Funny and way better than the movie!
- The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd: Good, although I found the ending to be very predictable.
- Desiring God by John Piper: Still making my way through this one. So far, excellent.
- The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper: Not an easy read, but good. Definately a different style than I've read before. It's one of the oldest American novels...and better than the movie!
- Angelas Ashes by Frank McCourt: Disappointing.
- The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan: Okay. The book was a little hard to follow, and the character's lives were really all just very depressing.
Remember... you only get to read a limited amount of books in your entire life, so choose wisely!

Thanks Amanda! I am always looking for a good book to read!
Little Women is such an awesome book! I get so worked up every time I read it - a TRUE classic.
wow amanda, I don't think you read enough :P
I've read 4 or 5 of your 2006 book list this year as well! What a true statement to choose books wisely. Even with audio books there was one that was so forgettable and cliche I wish I could replace that time with something else!
I agree you should choose the books you read wisely, especially for people like me who don't read that many books! That's why I think you should review the books as you read them so someone (like me) doesn't waste their Florida vacation reading A Painted House...
